Sometimes the adversity we face is just too great to handle on our own. At times like those we appreciate a helping hand. It may come from our family or friends, from a neighbor or community group. Then, we’re back on our way again.
The Muncie Housing Authority has a special program to lend a helping hand to families who now receive housing assistance but want to be economically self-reliant. This program is called the Family Self-Sufficiency Program.
Our goal is to help these families deal with what’s
keeping them from being self-sufficient…
To help them improve their choices.
That may mean job training, work experience, childcare, help with transportation, or some other kind of help. It depends on each family’s situation.
When a family gets back on its feet, we all benefit. The family becomes economically independent, a productive member of our community, no longer relying on welfare assistance programs.
We are cooperating with many public and private agencies and the business community as well, to line up the kind of help these families need to work toward their goal of being self-sufficient.
We would welcome your help in this effort. Your contribution of funds, services, or products is tax-deductible. You may even want to contribute the most valued asset: your time as a mentor for our participants.

Family Self Sufficiency
It’s helping people who need a
hand up, not a handout.
