MHA is here to help as you work towards increased stability, economic independence, and a better quality of life.

FSS helps eligible applicants to develop assets and achieve economic independence. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive an interest-bearing escrow (savings) account.

Family Self Sufficiency Program

Eligibility

This program is available to public housing residents or Housing Choice Voucher program participants.

Current head of household and other adult family members who are willing and able to work are eligible for the FSS Program.

Requirements

  • The head of the household enrolls in the FSS program by signing a contract of participation (COP).
  • Develop an Individual Training and Service Plan (ITSP) with a Program Coordinator.
  • Achieve all of the goals of your ITSP within five (5) years.
  • Obtain and maintain consistent employment.

The purpose of this program is to connect our clients with public and private employment, social and economical resources to affect positive changes in their lives, leading to their independence from all forms of public assistance.
